TEXTILE PRINTING WORKSHOP

Book Tickets

The exhibition BECOMING UNCOMMON SUBJECTS by Werker Collective has been conceived as an open space for knowledge production and shared practice with two specific moments of public activation. On November 8, we invite you the second activation: a textile printing workshop. In the exhibition, TEXTILES OF RESISTANCE is an installation work that expands the material basis of their archive onto fabric. In translating their archive of social movements onto fabric and displaying the printed textiles in open air and in exhibition spaces, Werker Collective seeks to ecologically embed their work in a physical way. They use natural dyes and fabrics sourced locally.

In this workshop, we will collectively continue the series TEXTILES OF RESISTANCE with an iteration on Abolition, following the exhibition's main topic. We will be printing with screens containing archival material on Abolition on a set of blank weathered textiles, which are presented in the garden as part of the exhibition. Since the labour of printing is done collectively, it allows for a social, political, symbolic, and ecological means of working, as well as it opens up a time and space where knowledge, craft, and experience are shared among workers.
