Opening two new exhibitions at RADIUS: DIANA AL-HALABI & HILDA MOUCHARRAFIEH: THE POLITICS OF THE ARMED LIFEBOAT | JUNGHUN KIM: BREATHE A MENDING SONG INTO THESE EARTHLY WOUNDS
RADIUS presents two exhibitions simultaneously from 2 December 2023 to 11 February 2024, with an opening reception on Saturday 2 December from 16:00 to 19:00.
For the final chapter of the NATURECULTURES year-programma at RADIUS, artists Diana Al-Halabi and Hilda Moucharrafieh collaborate in the exhibition THE POLITICS OF THE ARMED LIFEBOAT, that explores the intricate relationship between the political manipulation of food resources with famine, displacement, migration, and ecological devastation. Departing from food as one of the most common human experiences, Diana Al-Halabi and Hilda Moucharrafieh navigate the oppression of peoples through famine, whilst holding a critique of neo-colonial and capitalist practices that are sailing populations towards imminent global food insecurities.
Simultaneously we present the exhibition BREATHE A MENDING SONG INTO THESE EARTHLY WOUNDS, in which artist Junghun Kim addresses the scope of man-made ecological wounds on the planet’s interspecies relationships. As a response, Kim aspires to overstep the physical and spiritual thresholds towards more embodied and regenerative ways of living on Earth. Encompassing ceramic, painting, sculpture, installation, and meditation, Junghun Kim’s work is an invitation to sharpen our senses in imaginative, meditative, and spiritual ways in order to navigate anthropocentric wounds.
Additionally, we are also re-opening our main entrance with reception area and book store in the pump house building on 2 December. We are looking forward to welcome you to the penultimate phase of the renovation of this national monument and heritage complex, and its transformation into a center for contemporary art and ecology!
Join the opening reception on Saturday 2 December from 16:00 to 19:00 by booking your tickets via the button in the top right corner.
