SIXTEEN TREES OF DELFT

— A Guide for City Exploration

Purchase

This guide is for people who want to encounter Delft in exciting and unexpected ways, using the city's trees as the starting point.

Trees are an integral part of Delft: from century-old living monuments to recently planted saplings. How these trees exist in and interact with the urban environment is often overlooked—they should be thought of as architectural objects in their own right, with the power to make us reconsider our fundamental experience and understanding of the city.

Focusing on sixteen trees in Delft, this guide weaves together geographical and botanical histories, personal observations, scientific data, drawings and archival images, encouraging the user to consider the important role that trees have within the cityscape of Delft.
