SEA VOICES IN THE CORAL CABINET (2025)

March – April 2025

What happens to the ocean as it temperatures keeps rising? And how do inhabitants of the sea feel about and respond to all this pollution? During the workshop SEA VOICES IN THE CORAL CABINET, students will playfully explore the concept of rights of nature—because imagine if the ocean could speak, what would it say? What wishes would these sea inhabitants have in a world that is constantly changing and becoming increasingly unstable?

In the educational workshop SEA VOICES IN THE CORAL CABINET at RADIUS, students from primary schools in Delft explore the impact of climate change and pollution on the ocean. Together with artist Wieneke Bremer, they create a vibrant textile coral reef and playfully learn about the concept of rights of nature. During the workshop, the concept of rights of nature is introduced in an engaging way: using crochet, felting, and imagination, they will collaboratively build a coral reef, which will be presented to the Delft community at the end of the workshop series.
