Opening two new exhibitions at RADIUS: FROM RASTER TO VECTOR: THE NETHERLANDS AS PROFIT LANDSCAPE | PILAR MATA DUPONT & ERIKA ROUX: SCENES FROM THE POLDER WESTERN
RADIUS hereby cordially invites you to attend the opening of two new exhibitions on Saturday 18 May 2024.
The group exhibition FROM RASTER TO VECTOR: THE NETHERLANDS AS PROFIT LANDSCAPE examines the malleability and constructed nature of the Dutch landscape. The artists in the exhibition offer a historically-informed and current perspective on the future of the Dutch rasterised landscape, becoming increasingly subjected to conflicting interests concerning welfare, prosperity, economy, technology, innovation, and ecology. In the duo-exhibition SCENES FROM THE POLDER WESTERN, artists Pilar Mata Dupont and Erika Roux present the cinematic installation LOWLAND MELODIES, A POLDER WESTERN. Through a series of vignettes, informed by the cinematic tropes of the Western genre, Mata Dupont and Roux unpack a sequence of moral tales regarding an environmentally vulnerable country facing complex issues, such as climate change, sea level rise, floods and droughts, collapsing infrastructures, a nitrogen crisis, and their subsequent societal polarisation and political (mis)management.
We hope to welcome you during the public opening reception on Saturday 18 May from 16:00 to 19:00. Tickets for this festive opening event can be booked via the button in the top right corner.
